Drawn by a student at the Hancock Literary and Scientific Institution
L-R: Outbuildings, Vestry, Meetinghouse, three-story Institution student dormitory (now a residence), Liberty Pole, Literary and Scientific Institution (used as a grade school 1894-1999, now the Town Hall) , District #1 schoolhouse.
Foreground: L-horse sheds; R-Hearse house.
The picture shows the original location of the Meetinghouse built in 1819. It was moved north to its present location in 1851 to align the front of the Meeting-house with the front of the vestry. The town hall was incorporated under the church at this time with no expense to the town.
