1. Review of 6-17 minutes. Nahida Sherman was incorrectly quoted as requesting that NHDOT attend the next public meeting.

2. Engineer Chad Brannon led a detailed review of the plans to date. Particular attention was paid to the drainage and edging, the cobbled parking "islands" (or "bump outs"), and milling Main St. to lower the overall level of the asphalt and improve the drainage.

Traffic calming solutions at the West end by the cemetery were also reviewed. The committee rejected a traffic island since its location was deemed to be too far away from the straight away of Main St. to be effective. The committee favored the use of a speed table and a stop sign.

Using a speed-indicator sign was also discussed. Kurt Grasset presented a study which showed that these signs, which actively monitor and report on the speed of each car, can slow cars by as much as 5 mph. Speed tables, the study showed, can achieve a 4 mph reduction.

Branon marked up the plan, and will submit a revised plan next week for NHDOT to review at the 30% stage.

3. The date of the third public meeting in August is pending review of the plans by NHDOT. No date has been set at this time.

4. No new business

The next meeting of the VPC has also not been set.
