VPC Memo to Chad Branon

MLS

May 11, 2009

1. We want to slow traffic before it reaches the Beach entrance and the P.O. Look at moving the centerline by the cemetery to create an s-curve or chicane.

2. What will be the elevation change where the crosswalk goes from the common to the meetinghouse?

3. We need to allow for possible subsequent work that may involve realigning a road across the part of the common with the gazebo.

4. Can we restore two parking spaces right in front of the meetinghouse on the north side?

5. Make room for one more spot in front of the vestry.

6. We need an estimate how many parallel parking spots may have been removed to create the green spaces needed to narrow the look of the street.

7. Add parking in front of the Pond house (North side, next to library). We discussed moving the hydrant from there.

8. On north side use only sloped granite.

9. Possibly curtail use of granite after Ponds and use the south-side treatment.

10. We like the greening and narrowing of the street. The design is on the right track. We need to see some select landscape sketches to judge its effectiveness.

11. Suggested parking change by entrance to Tombstone Territory entrance: Widen the landscaped ends on the Inn side and the Real Estate Office side. The half-space we lose on each side, weÕll make up in front of the Pond house.

12. We still are concerned about driverÕs perceiving the street as a straight run. Have we done enough slow traffic?

13. Expand the planÕs area to the cemetery curve and to the foot of Norway hill.

14. Reuse the curbing in front of the Historical Society (Main St. & corner of Rt. 137).

15. Will the design reduce the paved area around the fountain and at the foot of Norway Hill?
