Village Planning Committee Minutes

9/10/08

Present: Howard, Kurt, Dave, John, Dennis, Tom, Mary, Jim

1) RFQ Process – Kurt reported that they had three proposals and the group had to meet to review them. Task force will choose a good candidate then go to the Select Board with their recommendation. After Select Board approves of choice, then the chosen contractor will provide a price. Task Force planning to meet 9/22 and will negotiate price and move to second tier if need be.

2) Follow up: report to Selectboard ---7/28, they know VPC is working on a warrant article.

3) Wires: Kurt reports as of 9/10 5:00 PM, project is officially under way. Budget is $165,000. They have authorization and a P.O. went out. Mary wanted to know where we could see the budget from each company. Kurt had sent it out to Larry. Expect to set polls on the common early in October.

10,000 for electrician, including connecting to the houses
2,000 for transformers
5,000 for asphalt
8,000 for contingency

4) Drainage: Next drain going in front of Neil Cass's house on Main St.

5) Beach: Kurt says its in design. Engineers are working on fitting it into the parameters committee provided. To come back to committee for comments. Tom: project will probably not come before town until Town meeting 2010 (if Kurt's guys do it). Gives time to get through DES process.

6) Registering Survey: John reports that Select Board decided to record the survey. Needed a mylar to do it. Kurt: also file the areas of concern that Todd identified. Dennis: surveys have to be signed off on and probably can't include this. But maybe can include a cover letter that lists the concerns.

7) Lighting tests: John said we need to talk to the fire department about putting lights up. He agreed to do that. Probably the 2nd Tuesday of October. Mary suggested we look at the Francestown church and see what they've done.

8) Other business: Mary brought up Willard Pond (not related to VPC) Will be brought up at the Improvement Committee.

Other item: DOT has Safe Routes to School money according to NHPR.
