VPC Minutes
5-7-2008

VPC meeting started at 7:00 p.m.. Present were Howard Mansfield, Tom Pisaturo, Jim Gamble, Mary Covington, Dennis Rossiter, Kurt Grasset, Steve Pope, Mike Fallon, and John Jordan of the Hancock Selectboard. Also present were Jarvis Coffin, and Allison Kerwin of the Common Commission.

Agenda:

1. Common Commissioners joined the VPC to review the wires project. Kurt gave a thorough explanation during an extensive field trip to the common for all concerned parties.

2. NHDOT Meeting, Thursday, May 8, 1 p.m. – Howard related who from the DOT will attend and emphasized that the goal is to impress with DOT that we need decisions from them on the remaining issues for the road improvement; traffic calming, curbing, sidewalks/crosswalks, road crowning. Much discussion was given to what to stress most.

3. Lighting – John Jordan related that we look at high efficiency/low energy usage for highlighting special aspects of our historic buildings versus spotlighting the entire buildings. He will do research into which lights and companies will accomplish this task. He also discussed lighting options for the Common and will bring in samples for the VPC to review.

4. Quick Review:

A. Selectboard response to School bus letter– Jim said the Selectboard said the parents need to park behind the Town Offices and rejected our suggestion to use the rec fields.

B. Drainage --Kurt said that the final design has been 90% approved but a specific start time is not yet determined.

5. New Business: Steve Pope expressed thanks for the camaraderie and fellowship but he has decided that new career opportunities were requiring increased time and that it was time to go after four years on the VPC.
