LaPlante called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. She then called for acceptance of the Minutes for September 26th. Jordan asked that the Model Study Committee liaison report read: "Jordan noted the Model Study Committee is making slow progress at this time." Jordan then moved to accept the Minutes of September 26th as amended; seconded by Boland; unanimously approved.
POLICE: Chief Wood stopped in to tell the Selectboard a burglary occurred in town a few days ago.
TAX COLLECTOR: Rennie Timm met with the Selectboard to notify them two properties are scheduled to be deeded November 7th. She left two deed waivers for the Selectboard to sign if they do not want the property deeded to the town. Timm reported she sent all the material to Town Counsel to confirm that all documentation was in order. The letters to the recipients will be sent certified and by regular mail. One property has almost $10,000 due and the other one has over $34,000 due.
LIAISON REPORTS:
Model Study Committee: Jordan reported the teachers were invited to attend this meeting; a prior meeting Administrators were invited. Several teachers came to the meeting – many from Hancock. The Administration had indicated the elementary school teachers felt isolated. However, the teachers attending stated they were happy, have contact with the other teachers and feel they can continue to keep in contact with each other. They were supportive of continuing with the small elementary schools.
Board of Adjustment: Jordan reported the ZBA met on September 28th and decided to obtain legal counsel on the Gibson Pewter case.
Historic District: LaPlante reported the spent their meeting reviewing the Rules of Procedure and made it about one-third of the way through.
COPIER: Caverly showed the Selectboard the options available for the proposed new copier and they approved the three-year plan. The maintenance contract for this copier will be less than that for the current copier.
DPW INTERVIEW: Caverly said she received a call from the spouse of an individual who applied to the Selectboard for the full time highway position, asking if the Selectboard would be interviewing the applicants. The Board's response is that they will be following normal procedure – Kurt reviews the applications, meets with the applicant, completes the reference checks and brings the data for his top two choices to the Board.
POLICIES: Caverly reminded the Board of the need to start working on reviewing the various town policies. They agreed they will be starting on the Work Zone and Police Details at the meeting of October 17th.
LaPlante reported she met with Chief Wood and he reported to her that Asplundh has been working well with the Police Department in notifying them of where the tree service will be working.
MILL ROAD BRIDGE: Jordan reported he went to look at the Mill Road Bridge and feels the group did an "incredibly good" job.

DPW REPORT: Grassett reported the #2 fuel has been locked in at $3.23 with Allen and Mathewson Energy.
The CPI for construction from July 2010 to July 2011 was 6.1%. The interest rate the town has for the Prospect Hill road project, at 2.??% is a good rate.
Moose Brook Field: Grassett reported the field has an invasion of grubs. James Stacy treated the field today (Oct. 3rd) and it will be back in use for games by Thursday.
Asplundh will be trimming on Cavender Road the rest of the week. Grassett said he made certain they contacted the Police Department to notify them. The Selectboard told him the Chief had reported to the Board that Asplundh was keeping the Police Department in the loop.
CLASS A TRAIL: Caverly said Glenda Lewis contacted her regarding the damaged gate on the Class A Trail, formerly known as the Nick Shea Road, and wondered what will be done. Grassett stated he is aware of the problem and is seeking a solution other than another wooden gate that will be damaged. He has received an offer of a metal cattle gate but has not had an opportunity to pick it up and install it.
