SELECTMEN'S MEETING MINUTES
April 25th, 2011
PRESENT: Roberta LaPlante, Chair, Carolyn Boland, John Jordan - Select Board and Linda Coughlan, Recording Secretary
LaPlante called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The minutes of the April 11th and April 18th meetings were unanimously approved as submitted.
LIAISON REPORTS –
Dump – Jordan reported the new sign for the dump was ready to order. He said the committee had decided to change the winter hours for the dump from 4:00 – 7:00 on Wednesdays to 4:00 to 6:00 since there was not much activity in the last hour of operation. The Select Board approved the sign. Jordan also reported that on June 11th a commercial shredder would be available at the dump for residents to use. He said residents would be allowed to bring in two banker sized boxes.
HEAT – Jordan said HEAT is still looking for more volunteers to serve. He said Phil Jones had attended an exhibit and brought back information for the committee. Jordan said the committee would like to hold an open house on June 11th for the solar photo voltaic systems that have been installed.
OLD BUSINESS –
Committee Appointments – Jordan said Hank Huber has shown an interest in serving on HEAT. The consensus of the Select Board was that Huber should notify the board by letter or email that he wished to serve. Boland made a motion to appoint Huber pending receipt of his letter or email. The motion was seconded and the Select Board voted unanimously in favor of the motion.
Abatements – The Select Board decided to review the abatements at their next meeting.
NEW BUSINESS –
Choice of Shingles – The Select Board decided to go with Kurt Grassett and Nevan Cassidy's suggestion of using Harvard Slate shingles on the Post Office roof.
Clark property action/letter – The Select Board didn't recall seeing the Clark letter in the reading file and will ask Caverly to check on it for the next meeting.
Theater Curtain –
After a brief discussion, the consensus of the Select Board was that it should be the decision of the Archives Committee on whether or not the curtain should be brought over to the church for Jody Simpson's play. Jordan mentioned the curtain that is kept upstairs at the Post Office and the Select Board thought that this should be brought to the Archives Committee attention as well. They were concerned that when the roof was being replaced, the curtain might become damaged in the process.
Minutes of the 2011 Town Meeting – LaPlante reported the town meeting minutes were in the reading file for review.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:20 P.M.
