Hancock Town Archives Committee

December 14, 2010

Members attending: Eric Aldrich, Marie Fogg, Howard Mansfield

The Archives Committee met at 7 p.m.

We reviewed the recent visit to the Hancock archives by Michelle Stahl of the Peterborough Historical Society. Attending Michelle's visit were Howard Mansfield, Barbara Caverly and Marie Fogg.

Howard said Michelle offered very practical advice about sorting of the archives and establishing finding aides. Michelle also offered encouragement and said the committee is heading in the right direction organizing and storing the town's archives.

At Michelle's encouragement, the committee decided to hold a "power-sort" session of 3 hours on an upcoming Saturday morning, either January 14 or 21. We plan to concentrate on the six or so boxes labeled "unsorted mortgages."

Eric offered to send an email to the committee floating the two dates to see which would work best for most of the committee.

The meeting closed at about 7:30 p.m.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Hancock Town Archives Committee is January 11, 7 p.m., at the Town Offices.

Respectfully submitted,

Eric Aldrich
