Minutes of the Water Commission Meeting
October 13th, 2010
AAttending: Jeff Wilder, Kurt Grassett, Sean Kerwin, Joel Chandler and Linda Coughlan, Recording Secretary
4:00 P.M. Jeff called the meeting to order. The minutes of the September 15th meeting were accepted as read.
Kurt said he would send out the budget to the Commissioners by email for review. Sean asked if he could show expenditures as well which Kurt said he would do.
The Commissioners decided to flush the water system on Thursday, October 30th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. As discussed at the September 15th meeting, Sean will go with one of the highway guys to learn the process. Kurt said that Jon Charlonne, foreman for the Highway Dept., has given his resignation. Since Jon is the backup licensed operator for Juggernaut, Kurt said he will have to think about having the replacement foreman take DES courses for licensing next spring,
Kurt said he had heard back from Dudley Cobb regarding the letter that had been sent to her on the water line to her property on Old Dublin Road. Currently there seems to be only one connection to the house that the Cobbs sold and to their remaining cottage. Dudley said there are two separate hook ups, one for her former house and one for her cottage. Kurt said he will check this out at some point. The property has always had just one water bill for both properties.
DES Letter -
Kurt referenced a letter from DES regarding redoing administrative rules on surface water. He said this could give better legal protection and could tighten up easements on logging such as not allowing petrol refueling etc. He will email the letter to the Commissioners.
Water Commissioner Appointment
The Commissioners have decided to make official the appointment of Joel Chandler as a Commissioner to fill out Kurts term. Kurt said he will do an official resignation for the end of the month. Joel will fill out Kurts term but when thats up he will have to be elected.
Call List at Juggernaut
Kurt asked the Commissioners if they wanted to be on the emergency call list at Juggernaut. He said Jon was on the list but they will have to have a replacement for him. Jeff and Sean said they would be willing to go on the list. Kurt said since he is the primary operator, he would be notified first, and then if he were unavailable, the call would go in order to the next person on the chain.
UV Disinfection System
Kurt reported there was no update regarding the UV System.
The Commissioners decided to keep their monthly meeting date to the 2nd Wednesday of the month.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 4:20 P.M. The next meeting will be on November 10th at 4:00 P.M.
