Minutes of the Water Commission Meeting

March 18th, 2010

Attending: Jeff Wilder, Kurt Grassett, Sean Kerwin and Linda Coughlan, Recording Secretary

4:00 P.M. – Jeff called the meeting to order. The minutes of the February 16th meeting were approved as written.

Monthly Reports -

Kurt said the water system had been running good all winter with out any spikes occurring. He said he didn't have the charts here at the office but if the Commissioners wanted they could postpone signing off on the charts until the April meeting. The Commissioners agreed with this. Kurt did have the quarterly report which is taken at the Vestry and that showed good residual all the way to the center of town.

Past Due Water Rent

The Commissioners voted to shut off the water at 44 Norway Hill if nothing is heard from them by March 19th. They had not yet responded to the registered notice. Linda said she will call on the 19th to let them know what the Commissioners had decided.

Abatement -

The Commissioners signed an abatement for Delia Daniels for $567.37 who had over paid for the Antrim Road upgrade.

Updating Fee Schedule -

It was decided to revisit the fee schedule when the UV costs come in. They believe the fees need to be updated since it has been 25 years since the last update, but they would like to see how much they need to spend on the UV system. Kurt said they should know the cost by the end of summer.

UV System –

Kurt updated the Commissioners on the grant he had applied for on the UV system. He said he had heard back from DES and they said there were no extra funds at this time. The state did say state revolving loan funds could be applied for. The Commissioners did not believe a loan was necessary.

Water Rent Software -

The RVS software looked good but it only has metered water rent. Jeff said the software he had looked at seemed to be more complicated than what was required. Kurt and Linda will meet at some point with Gail Hoffman to check into using Quick Books for the water rent software.

Water Flushing -

It was decided to flush the water system during school vacation week on Tuesday, April 20th.

There being not further business, the meeting adjourned at 4:22 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Linda Coughlan, Recording Secretary
