Meeting minutes of May 13, 2010
Those is attendance:

Jeff called the meeting to order at 6:30
Minutes of the meeting of April 7th were approved as written.
Beach:
*Lifeguard staffing: Katie has yet to interview lifeguard candidates as she would like to have more detail on the pay scale for the guards. When she has this information she will be interviewing for position right away.
Jeff will provide this to her.
*Jeff presented Katie with the current policy on the use of floatation devices.
*Discussed removal of the dumpster from the parking lot. All were in agreement that the beach could become a carry in / carry out facility. Jeff and Roberta will discuss with Kurt options for the removal of the small amount of trash that will be generated by the guards.
*Beach opening date: Beach opening date tentatively set for June 28th running through Aug. 21st (Old Home Day).
Roberta suggested (if the budget allowed) staying open through Sunday the 22nd as many families, relatives etc. are around on the Sunday after O.H.D.
It was also discussed opening on the 21st of June, again if the budget allows.
*Katie went through a preliminary draft of a lifeguard policy that she had written.
All agreed that is was very thorough. She will work on a final draft that will include all beach rules as written on the sign at the pond.
*There was discussion of beach equipment in the storage shed. Jeff will investigate what is there and follow up with Katie.
*Rates for lessons: As lesson session will now be 2 weeks it was agreed that lesson cost would be $35.00 per session with a maximum of $85.00 per family.
*Discussed integration between the summer rec. program and beach. Possible canoe and kayak lessons as part of rec. program. Katie will discuss with Lisa Hunt.
Jeff has a canoe that could stay at the pond for the summer for their use.
*Lifeguard swimsuits: Katie would like to see the guards have actual guard swimsuits.
She will investigate. It was agreed that _ the cost of the suits could come from the Rec. budget.
*Jeff will measure and order new bead lines for the pond.
Summer Rec. Program:
*Kary reported he did speak to Lisa Hunt briefly but hiring of staff has not been completed. Jeff has emailed Lisa a couple of times with no response.
Kary agreed to get in touch with her and to work with her on interviewing applicants.
Waiting for Lisa to determine equipment needs etc. for the program.
Discussed hourly vs. salary for rec. director position and agreed that pay should continue to be hourly.
Being no further business meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm.
