VPC Meeting 25 April 2007

The meeting began at 7 PM.  Present were Howard Mansfield, Kurt

Grassett, Mary Covington, Tom Pisaturo, Dennis Rossiter, and Steve

Pope.

Agenda:

1. Test Sidewalk report for Happenings – Kurt says the final section

with the polymer solution has weathered the best, has maintained its

crowned shape and has drained well.  Howard will work with Kurt to

write it up.

2. Drainage -- Appointing someone to coordinate with the Conservation

Commission.  Dennis volunteered to work on this.

3. TCSP – Mary related that the representatives she has contacted have

been encouraging but nothing definite to date. Both Senators Gregg and

Sununu have written letters supporting our efforts to obtain funding.

It is hoped the 2007 application results will be known sometime in

July.

4. NHDOT – Howard said that we would delay talking with the DOT until

we find out about the TCSP and that they were very busy right now.

5. Street Edges – Kurt said antique granite would be expensive but

modern ‘antiqued’ granite is half the cost. Dennis will do some

research to find out costs, etc.

6. Street lights – Tom suggested the town apply to Monadnock Community

Foundation in September for design money.

7. Sidewalks (North side)-- Safe Routes to School. (SRTS) NH DOT to

start accepting applications in late May. Tom will call Jeff Porter to

find out more.

8. Walkways/paths (South side) -- Reestablish path after Hosley Grant

survey is done in July. The procedure will include notifying abutters,

HDC, etc.

9. Parking – The problems encountered included; visibility exiting

Tombstone territory, March mud conditions in library lot, and

maintaining diagonal parking in winter.  Kurt is aware of the issues.

10. Crosswalks – Paint or granite. Depends on road reconstruction and

survey.

11. Tree work – Dennis said that the work will commence after speaking

with Dan Tremblay of Broad Oak.  Kurt also will be involved.

12. Common Edges – Tom will try to get the Plan NH foundation to get

involved to help design some method of preventing people from parking

on the Common grass, as well as working with the Common Commission.

13. Welcome/Drive Slow signs – Howard suggested the Selectboard deal

with design, size, wording, sponsorship of any signs for the town.
