Several people spent two busy hours Saturday morning using power wire brush tools cleaning surface rust from the steel girders that will make up the supports for the new bridge

    Bill Eva, John Pirkey, Dave LeFebvre, Steve Smith and Hunt Dowse made quick work of the project.

    After the cleaning was complete, Laurie Bryan joined the group to prime the surfaces with an industrial grade primer.

    In the next few days, a finish coat will be sprayed over the primer and the wood tops to the beams will be bolted on in preparation for decking once the steel is in place.
