Mission Statement

The Mission of the Hancock Police Department is to protect the lives and property of the citizens of this community, to preserve the peace, and to prevent crime and disorder while constantly guarding personal liberties. We believe in the dignity and worth of people along with equitable and professional application of the law.

School Safety

As some of you may have already noticed, the Hancock Police Department has stepped up its efforts to ensure that the Elementary School remains a safe and friendly place for all the children, faculty, and staff. Directed patrols when the students arrive and leave, frequent stop-ins, and a heavy presence in the area are only a few of the things that have taken place lately.

With that being said, our hearts and prayers remain with the families, innocent victims, and the entire Newtown, Connecticut community in this terribly difficult and tragic time.

Andrew M. Wood, Chief of Police
