Remarkably
Verney Road
suffered only a little damage during the first rain event of October 8 & 9. By the time the second event came the ground was so saturated that the runoff came much quicker. The two areas that were hit the hardest were in the photo above (just below the Verney Residence) where about 500 feet of road was severely washed, and at the intersection of
North Road
where a 12 inch culvert failed and caused the road to washout for over 1,000 feet.
The total damage for this road was $8,761.00. FEMA also granted us an additional $1,555.00 to upsize the culvert in the photo above, as well as rock line the ditch at the base of the hill.
