Cathy Roper Receives NRRA Award What happens to all that stuff that we so strongly encourage everyone to recycle? Most of it gets sold through an organization called the Northeast Resource Recovery Association. NRRA was formed over 27 years ago by four municipalities to pool recyclables in order to maximize pricing. Today, NRRA serves over 360 municipal and business members throughout New England from its headquarters in Epping, NH. NRRA does not charge brokerage fees to members to market their recyclables but collects a minimum fee to reinvest into recycling and solid waste services for members. Between October '07 and November '08, NRRA helped remove over 68,000 tons of material from the waste stream. (NRRA 2008 Annual Report). Early this June, NRRA held its 28th Annual Conference and Exposition in Manchester with over 60 exhibitors and hundreds of interested recyclers in attendance. A number of awards were handed out and Cathy Roper was honored with the "Best Bill of Lading" award. Our recycling income is a direct result of her highly accurate billing. Congratulations to Cathy and many thanks for her good work. |
